Gerry Anderson Music Bursary

Congratulations to Polar Bolero who have won the inaugural Gerry Anderson Music Bursary.

We set up this £5,000 award to support emerging musicians from Ulster as they take the next step in their careers. In partnership with the Oh Yeah Centre, we are proud to offer this bursary in memory of Gerry’s passion for music and his dedication to nurturing local talent.

Gerry Anderson Bursary Award Criteria

In memory of Gerry’s remarkable contributions to both music and broadcasting, the Gerry Anderson Bursary Award seeks to honour his legacy by supporting a solo artist or band who embodies Gerry’s commitment to creativity, originality, and artistic expression.

A cash prize is awarded, with the goal of helping the recipients further their career, whether through recording, touring, or any other initiative that advances their artistic development. Additionally, the recipients will receive mentoring and industry support, echoing the way Gerry championed local talent throughout his life.

Over the coming months, we’ll be taking time to reflect on everything we’ve learned and exploring what might be possible next. There’s so much more we hope to do to support emerging musicians and keep Gerry’s legacy flowing into the future.

Thanks to IMRO for their generous contribution of £3000 towards the bursary. And thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Your support means more than you know.

Here’s to music, community, and the magic that Gerry continues to inspire.
